Art of War
This was my first time attending a bboy jam since the Philippines in January, and as far as being in the Bay Area, before that would be the Renegades Anniversary 2008. Little did I realize how in awe this event was going to leave me in. Initially I only went to watch the Bangerz perform live, as they put on a very ill show, but then I saw 5150 wreck shop in the battle and it made my stay there so much more eventful! The battle between them and Illest Villains was pretty dope. Shout out to Cassanova Fresh formerly known as Evil (x-force!) for rippin shit up with his crew! And major ups to B-boy Thesis for being the most incredible 17-year old b-boy i’ve seen before my eyes…. I have some footage of him, but you can go and youtube yourself…. he’s not hard to find. He has amazing musicality in addition to his mastery of flow and strength in his movement…. so ill. Renee actually brought him to my attention a couple months ago, and little did I think I would see this kid raw and live.Another thing that left me leaving inspired was seeing all my old friends from when we were in the “dance all day, everyday” mode in high school/ college. It was such a pleasure to see most of them still dancing, if not… just supporting and being apart of it. It made me really miss the scene, and gave me motivation to step up my game. I even ran into a dude i taught a 6-step to… now that’s crazy. ha!Much love to Bobbie V & Head Hunters for throwing such an incredible event, the judges (AlienNess, Flo-Master, Poe1, Cros1) for keepin it real and alive, B-boy Thesis for being my new favorite b-boy, all the B-girls puttin the smack down!, the Bangerz who never seize to amaze me, and everyone that keeps the spirit of dance alive!pictures to come, i just wanted to get this hype outta my system. :)peace.jennilly
